About

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

We, Humpty (me) and Dumpty (my husband), have been happily married for three years. We both worked at a major finance company in New York for the past several years — until the end of 2011. Through a series of traumatic set of events, including the loss of our pregnancy and death in the family, we decided to change the course of our lives.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.

For the first six months of 2012, we did not think we could be put back together again. It was really difficult. But we didn’t like this ending. These tragic events really shook us and shaped us but ultimately we would not let it define us. So we decided we would rewrite the ending. The second half of 2012 would be our chance to do something we wanted to do, to grow stronger, to grow even closer together, and to do things we may never get to do again in our lives. Within two months, we sold our house, got our finances in order, packed-up our stuff, kind-of-sort-of planned a trip, created this blog, and bought a one way ticket to….our future.

We are going to travel. We are going to see the world. We are going to meet and try to connect with people along the way. We are going to share this with other people. We want this journey to be more than just sightseeing, experimenting with new foods or staying at cool places–we want this journey to be about becoming better citizens of the world. This travel blog is about our journey — our physical journey, our spiritual journey, our life journey. We will study the seductive and beautiful poetry of Rumi in Turkey, meditate in isolated caves in Pakistan, volunteer in Kashmir, do yoga in ashrams around India…and that is just the start. We not only want to share travel advice about the countries we visit, but also about our spiritual experiences and the fights, misadventures and laughter we have along the way! No journey is easy and we do not expect this one to be either – but we hope we can grow and we hope you can too.
